And I WON 1st place for Judges Choice and People's Choice for my Lobster Wonton! I was truly shocked and honored that they appreciated my palate. The judges said: ”at the end of the judging, we all wanted another one” and “truly promotes the lobster flavor”. So the recipe will definitely go into the 2nd edition to Art of Breakfast due out May 2019 (which will be more than just breakfast). | So I am SUPER excited about this, because it's really only the second cooking competition I've ever done and quite honestly I'm really not that competitive, I do things to enjoy doing them, not to win (when I'm not working which is pretty much always)! I first entered the Cellardoor Smackdown in 2015 and won the people's choice award for my creamy poblano corn chowder with lobster. And on September 20, 2018 I competed in the Claw Down against some VERY talented career chefs. |
The fact that I can wrap my cooking passion into my work is a really wonderful thing. Food is one of the things that often binds us. And it's a way of my connecting to my clients. And making connections and the food are two very important elements in the innkeeping life.
Check out more photos from the event!
And my judge's first place win qualified me for the Harvest on the Harbor 2018 Maine Lobster Chef of the Year competition on 10/19/18. Wish me luck!
