He and very talented musician partner Patty Griffin stayed with us at The Pomegranate Inn over Christmas. Patty is from Maine and they visited some of her family while here. She has a beautiful voice and has written countless songs for various artists, more than I realized. And Led Zeppelin was just honored at the 35 Annual Kennedy Center Honors! And I just kept thinking and they're staying with us? Surreal...
Having grown up listening to Led Zeppelin: picture me, about 12 years old, sitting in front of my stereo (possibly 8 track, but might have just moved to vinyl) in the rec room with giant headphones on, top volume, listening over and over again to all of my favorite songs on all of their albums. My parents had to flicker the light for me to turn the volume down to talk to me! This was my daily after school ritual. So naturally, I was thrilled when my husband realized who he was (I would have if given more time but he was on that in no time!) What a nice couple too; he had some funny commentary as I'm sure you're not surprised. I asked Robert to sign my chef coat - I wrote on the sleeve: "I cooked for rock legend Robert Plant!" He added the "very well" and "thanks Dana" and signed beneath.
I asked Robert this morning as they were checking out if I could disclose that they stayed here. Graciously he said "of course!". We snapped a picture and they were on their way.
The right place at the right time... 😄
After I posted this, I saw that Robert and Patty reposted it on their photo blog with a very nice note that made my day. Or perhaps my year!
